The annual Oval+ installation offers robust sets of data and public inputs for guiding theimpending enhancement of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.
Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Client: Fairmount Park Conservancy, Philadelphia Parks and Recreation, and The Knight Foundation
Since 2017 PORT has companioned the design and execution of the OVAL+ with a robust data collection process. This documentation—funded by the Knight Foundation, and in collaboration with PennPraxis—has provided a feedback loop, with findings integrated into each future iteration of the Oval+. In addition, the documentation also provides a robust data set for considering future, permanent change to Eakins Oval and the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Data collection methods include video interviews, surveys conducted by Oval+ staff, online and paper surveys of patrons, data collecting benches and area code information collected from food and drink purchases.
